On March 16, 2021, the world lost the brightest of bright lights in a tragic car accident.  Our daughter, Hannah, was taken from this world way too soon, at the tender young age of 16.  Though we know she's happily reunited with her dad (who we lost 12.5 years ago in a similar way), this world is a much darker place without her light in it.  Hannah was known by everyone as being kind, warm, compassionate, intelligent, and full of confidence.  Her laugh was as infectious as she was beautiful - inside and out!

She loved so many things in life, but playing volleyball was her passion.  She started her volleyball journey in 5th grade, eventually playing for middle school, high school, and traveling club teams.  It was a year-round adventure that she adored (and so did we, as volleyball-loving parents!).  Her jersey number was always #2 and she played as the setter, and even occasionally a right-side hitter.  Though she was small, she was mighty.  More than anything, she was determined to be the best at absolutely everything - her dedication to her sport was an amazing thing to witness. She was extraordinary.

It's no surprise to those who knew her, but Hannah had big dreams that were going to take her far.  She wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner (or work in the health sciences field in some way) - and even spoke of a deep desire to work in a Trauma setting.  We have no doubt she would have accomplished anything and everything she put her mind to.

Our local Bainbridge Island community and our extended volleyball communities have been extraordinary throughout this tragic week.  This is by far the hardest thing we've ever done - and probably will ever do - in our lives.  We can't thank each one of you enough for being there with us, sharing pictures and memories with us, and just letting us know how loved our girl was. That is what is getting us through, moment by moment.

Our deepest wish is to create a long-lasting legacy for our beloved daughter, to be used as a scholarship fund for dedicated student-athletes and those that reflect a dedication to academics and those values embodied by our beautiful Hannah.  It's our fervent wish to make a difference in as many lives as possible.

We're in the process of starting a 501(c)3 Foundation to further this work and look forward to continuing to support our beautiful Bainbridge Island students and community in a variety of ways.

We have no doubt that this is what Hannah would want us to do.  We hope you feel compelled to help us make this a reality by donating in any amount, large or small.  100% of the funds will be dedicated to and managed by the foundation.  We, as a family, will match the first $10,000 in donations.

Finally, we just want to say thank you, for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support over this past week.  We could not have made it this far without you, and know we will need you as we continue on this journey.
